Sekarang saya di DIS, tadi ada doctor call tanya pasal ADR of Salbutamol.
PARADOXICAL BRONCHOSPASM
Paradoxical bronchospasm means that the medicine that is supposed to reverse bronchospasm actually causes it.
Kesimpulannya, Salbutamol supposedly cause bronchodilation, tapi tiba-tiba jadi bronchospasm. Means macam ubat tu menyebabkan apa yang ia nak treat. ~Pening ayat!!~

oooo...so kenapa bronchospsm bleh berlaku?sedangkan tujuan obat asma itu adalah untuk membuka lagi salur pernafasan tersebut?=)
ADR = adverse drug reaction
Ada beberapa theory pasal paradoxical bronchospasms ni. 1st, bronchospasms tu disebabkan oleh excipient dalam dosage form ubat tu eg benzalkonium chloride (pengawet), chlorofluorocarbon (propellant) atau oleic acid (disepersant) dalam MDI Salbutamol. 2nd, salbutamol dalam MDI atau tablet tu terdiri daripada racemic mixture, (R) Salbutamol & (S) Salbutamol. (S) Salbutamol disyaki sebagai punca paradoxical bronchospasms di kalangan pesakit yang guna salbutamol
